Rupertsland Institute

Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is an affiliate of the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) and is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization under the Alberta Business Corporations Act. The Métis Nation of Alberta assigned RLI with a mandate in educationtraining and research. RLI’s vision is for a skilled, knowledgeable and self-reliant Métis Nation and is integral to enhancing the self-sufficiency and well-being of Alberta Métis through quality education, training and research. Since its creation in 2010 and in support of its vision and mandate, RLI has been developing programs and services that embrace the principles of:
  • Labour market self-sufficiency
  • Informed decision-making
  • Strategic partnerships
  • Lifelong learning
  • Enhanced accountability

            We provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. We offer before and after school care for children aged 4 to 11. We also have day programs for the children when they are not in school; PD days, Easter break, Christmas break, and summer vacation. The Teen Centre is an excellent place for teens to drop in after school and during lunch. We provide free lunch for the teens twice a week and have lots of fun after school, giving cooking and baking classes and many more weekly and special programming, dances and out-of-town trips. ECHO Society is a charitable non-profit society that is a service provider in the Northcentral region of Alberta since 1998 throughout Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe and Fox Creek. Our mandate is to support individuals with disabilities to attain their full potential. The society is governed by a volunteer board of directors and is funded primarily through the Government of Alberta (Persons with Development Disabilities) and community initiatives such as fundraising and donations. We are proud members of the Disability Services Northcentral Alberta along with twelve other service providers. We provide an array of training and lifelong learning support services to enable individuals with disabilities to become a valuable part of their community. Read more about this Chamber Member

Martin Long MLA, West Yellowhead

Elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 2019, Martin Long has the distinct honour of serving the constituency of West Yellowhead. Prior to being elected, Martin worked for 9 years as an operator at the Alberta Newsprint Pulp and Paper Mill in Whitecourt, Alberta. He has also worked extensively at drill sites for oil and gas companies and is a Class III power engineer. Currently, Martin serves on the Premier’s Council on Charities and Civil Society, the Members’ Planning Committee on Communities and Families and is Chair of the Upper Smokey Lake Caribou Taskforce. He is honoured to help ensure a working landscape for Albertans, while protecting the habitat of our great wildlife. Martin is also a member of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls Joint Working Group, and is interested in broadening both the general awareness of this crisis and being a part of the solution. McLeod River PCN – McLeod River Primary Care Network Primary Care Networks (PCNs) bring local physicians and other health care professionals together to provide comprehensive patient care to Albertans. PCNs develop solutions to meet the needs of the local community and their health issues. PCNs are created through an agreement between physicians and Alberta Heath Services. We provide services in the areas of chronic disease management, geriatrics, palliative care, obstetrics and medical social work. Read more about this Chamber Member

Soaring Eagle Support Society (SESS) is a registered charity in Whitecourt, Alberta, that provides services for our vulnerable citizens. Our goals are: (1)to provide direct support – or be the bridge to other community supports – to those who have been disqualified, traumatized or abandoned by traditional services and do not have the level of skills needed to thrive and be connected to their community. Welcome to Tennille’s Hope Kommunity soup kitchen–yes, it is spelled with a K, to be a little different. We are Whitecourt Alberta’s community soup kitchen. Please join us Wednesdays and Fridays for a hot home-cooked meal. We will also serve soup and sandwiches on Mondays through winter. Everyone is welcome. Meals are free, and donations are appreciated. Whitecourt Community Lunch Box | Helping Kids Learn on a Full StomachThe Community Lunch Box Society is a non-profit, all-inclusive, volunteer-run society that currently serves the community of Whitecourt. Our initiatives fall into four categories as follows; creating a cleaner, greener community; helping individuals with disabilities find meaningful part-time employment; providing inclusive volunteer opportunities, and helping kids learn on a full stomach. Our organization is made up of 125 good-hearted volunteers, community members, schools, businesses and a board of directors that work together to create positive initiatives in our community.
