Elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in 2019, Martin Long has the distinct honour of serving the constituency of West Yellowhead.
Prior to being elected, Martin worked for 9 years as an operator at the Alberta Newsprint Pulp and Paper Mill in Whitecourt, Alberta. He has also worked extensively at drill sites for oil and gas companies and is a Class III power engineer.
Currently, Martin serves on the Premier’s Council on Charities and Civil Society, the Members’ Planning Committee on Communities and Families and is Chair of the Upper Smokey Lake Caribou Taskforce. He is honoured to help ensure a working landscape for Albertans, while protecting the habitat of our great wildlife. Martin is also a member of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls Joint Working Group, and is interested in broadening both the general awareness of this crisis and being a part of the solution.
